been taking amoxicillin-clavulanate so far, for 2 days. now i'm constipated and haven't had a proper bowel movement, yet. (little, hard, pebble stool). should i stop taking the medication? or is there a way to fix this?

: Amox/clav doesn't cause constipation, almost certainly just a coincidence in timing. Don't stop taking it. Any of the standard constipation remedies should be fine and none will interfere with the antibiotic or its effectiveness against your infection. Discuss with your doctor if it remains a problem.

i have not had s problem moving my bowels,  until two days ago. i am regular with normal stools. in a few instances, i have difficulty eliminating. today, after an enema i passed hard pebble like stool. not normal amount. thisnis rare. ?

Bowel change: Since this is a change in your usual bowel pattern, it shouldn't be ignored and a colonoscopy may be in order. Your stools suggest recent constipation and if increasing fluid intake and fiber or Metamucil in your daily diet doesn't get you back to normal regularity, it's important to be evaluated by a gastroenterologist. If you haven't had a screening colonoscopy, this is a good time to get one.

i've tested positive for campylobacter enteritis, i saw white hard pebbles in my stool when taking stool sample + i'm seeing white powder in my faeces

Constipation: Make sure she is drinking plenty of water.  Give her foods that are high in fiber - lots of vegetables and fruit.  Prunes and prune juice really can be very helpful. Limit grains -  wheat (bread and pasta) especially. Give mostly fresh, unprocessed foods - avoid foods that come in a box.

Yes and no: Your stool reflects your diet. Make a diet diary of what you eat for a week. Foods that cause constipation are the grains such as rice, oats, barley. Also foods that have lots of pectin (bananas) and milk. Stop these for a week and your stool will soon change.

Constipation: Hard, pebble like stool is a sign of constipation and often, dehydration.  Make sure to drink at least 2 liters of water a day and eat foods rich in fiber like fruits, vegetables and whole grains.  A stool softener would also be a good idea

Could be IBS: Try some Miralax (polyethylene glycol) or warm prune juice. If that doesn't help, see your doctor.

Diverticulosis: Ask your physician on your next visit whether it is worth 'scoping you to look for diverticular disease. It is not especially treatable. The diverticula catch stool, and it hardens in the pouches until it escapes.

Constipation: This may be a sign of some form of irritable bowel syndrome. It seems that you have already seen a GI specialist. Continue to see this specialist and keep a symptom diary. This will help to unravel the exact problem that may be developing. For now increase fiber in your diet.

Common: Rice cereal is on of the agents I use to slow down poops in a kid with loose stools. It &amp; applesauce are natural constipators. Reduce the quantity or just stop it. Five mo is a bit early. If the kid is not sitting they are not quite ready to do solids well . They are not as nutritious or balanced as formula or breastmilk.
