Most likely you will not need invasive procedure to find out. Scan technology also makes it easier to see the "lump" under the gum, in 3-d. A special light may be employed to ensure the lump is not cancerous. So visit your dentist/oral surgeon and get peace of  mind!

Needs personal look: That is a good description but there is no way to diagnose the lesions without personally examining you.  See a dentist who can actually see the lesion when you have it and give you an accurate diagnosis. Palatal tori: It may be palatal tori, which is a normal overgrowth of bone on the roof of your mouth.  Sometimes food or your toothbrush can scrap the tender tissue stretching over the tori causing pain. Rinse with warm salt water. You need to see a dentist to make sure you do not have a palatal abcess due to an infected tooth or less likely oral cancer.

Get it checked: It hard to say but could be torus palatinus but these usually aren't painful unless its injured. Beat bet is to get it checked. It might need to be biopsied.
