See doc: It would be wise to have an ENT physician examine you.  Post nasal drip, sinus infection and chronic pharyngitis should be considered and are treatabe.  Increasing fluid intake will make the mucous less thick.  Mucomyst, an over the counter medication may help thin the mucous also.

Contact ENT surgeon: Contact your ENT surgeon.  Excess mucus may be a complication of your tonsillectomy.

Sore throat: In these situations it is best to see a physician as soon as possible. The likelihood is that you have a bacterial infection. Under such conditions the person needs to be examined in person and possibly tested for the type of infection. Most definitely something like this would be treated with antibiotics. Not all antibiotics are the same so please do not treat yourself.  I appreciate cost.

: There is no reason to have the mucus to be stuck in the back of throat. More than likely you have post-nasal drip which is caused by chronic sinus infection.
You will be best served by consulting an ENT specialist who can examine this area properly and also treat this problem best.

Dr. can check throat: New throat symptoms can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies, irritants, or stomach acid reflux. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep throat).

Emergency: You need to be seen asap by a dentist, oral surgeon or ENT doctor.  Go now, do not pass go, do not stop to collect $.  This may well be the onset of severe infection which can progress very rapidly and be potentially fatal.  Hope this is managed promptly and you get better soon.  Good luck. Likely viral: Viral infections can cause inflammation of the throat along with yellowish/thick mucus / postnasal drip, and even streaks of blood.  If you develop high fever or severe difficulty swallowing or significant blood, seek medical attention.  Other wise, try salt water gargles, humidifier, and neti pot.

Post nasal drip: You have post nasal drip, you can use saline nasal spray or rinse, gargle with salt water &amp; try  to unclog your ears by closing your nose &amp; mouth while trying to blow your mouth (valsasavas manouver ) until you see you 1ry care physician or ENT.  Good luck.
