firm lump attached to shoulder bone that hurts to press on. this was diagnosed as winged scapula a year ago but the lump has grown.. second opinion??

Yes: Scapular winging is fairly common and easily diagnosed by physical examination by an experienced ORS( there are different types of 'winging' depending on underlying cause( muscle imbalance, nerve injury, etc).Firm masses attached to the scapula is another matter( lipomas, osteochondromas,and other growths are seen occasionally). Get another opinion from a board certified ORS. GL!

i noticed a bony lump on the top of my left shoulder bone. not paining but it's grinding when  rotate the shoulder. i lift weights. cause for worry?

Prob AC joint: The AC joint is on the top of your shoulder, about 2 inches from the outside edge.  I suspect this is what is bothering you.   It is easily irritated by repetitive movement and strain.  It would take an exam to know exactly where your problem is.  Back off on your lifting and try some ibuprofen.  If it doesn't go away, see your doctor.

father had titanium hip replacement last year, now may require imaging of shoulder bone, which has lump on it. would mri be allowed given titanium hip?

MRI COMPATIBLE: Titanium implants are MRI compatible. People with nontitanium implants should inform the radiologist or technician prior to the procedure; however, most joint implants are firmly attached inside bone and will not pose a serious problem. People with internal metallic surgical staples from healed surgeries should also inform the radiologist or technician prior to the procedure.

Lipoma: It is probably a lipoma but that can only be confirmed by physical examination.A lipoma is a growth of fat cells in a thin, fibrous capsule usually found just below the skin. Lipomas are found most often on the torso, neck, upper thighs, upper arms, and armpits, but they can occur almost anywhere and are non cancerous.Consult your physician to confirm the diagnosis of lipoma.

Lump: This will have to be examined by a physician for diagnosis. If it's movable and tender it could be an inflamed cyst. If it's bony hard and immovable it could be a bone tumor. If it's near the shoulder joint it could be a bone spur. Have it examined.

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining you. You could watch and wait. You may feel the lump every couple of weeks, if the lump doubles in size, becomes painful, ulcerates, or other lumps appear, or you develop fever, or lose weight, you should see a doctor.

Needs attention: This doesn't sound like something that should wait 4-8 weeks for attention. Did you speak to a medical professional at your PCP's office, or an appointment clerk? If the latter, call back and request a call from a nurse or doctor. Discuss with them, hopefully they can get you in sooner.
