Could be: A number of things from a swollen (infected) sebaceous gland to en enlarged lymph gland from infection/tumor

Abscess?: There are a few thoughts. First of all how long have you had this?  Change in size?  Well could be a collection of infection or an abscess. Could be a simple cyst. Apply some heat may help and avoid deodorants and shaving. See if the heat helps

Hello : Hello i can't diagnose your condition.  However, it sounds like it could possibly be hidradenitis suppurativa.  It sounds like the issue did not draw a lot of attention from your doctor. Recommend that you seek the assistance of a dermatologist for these lesions. Take care.

Depends: It depends on the size & how long they have been there. There are lymph nodes in your arm pits that can swell if you have an infection. Nodes may be swollen even if you do not feel any symptoms because your immune system is fighting the infection without you realizing it. Swollen nodes are usually tender. If hard/painless or are concerned see your dr because it could be something more serious.

2 inches is large.: a golf ball or your eyeball are both smaller than 2 inches.  A lump the size of a small plum needs to be evaluated.  Since it doesn't hurt it probably is not infected so this isn't an emergency but I would have a doctor examine it next week.

Can be common: There can many reasons for bumps there and if concerned see a Doctor.Sometimes there can be cysts there that can get infected.The more common thing that happens in the armpit area is micro abscesses or abcesses from blocked hair ducts or sweat glands in which you do warm compresses to the areas to get them draining.Sometimes need oral antibiotics.Other possibilities are lymph nodes.

Maybe infected: Lumps in the armpit skin of a teen or adult can be due to ingrown hairs or blocked oil (sebaceous) glands. Occasionally, they are blocked pores, filling up with dead skin cells. If the lumps hurt, they may be infected...And would need antibiotics or need to be cut open by a doctor, depending on how they look. Lumps deeper in the armpit may be enlarged lymph nodes, which can be infection or cancer.
