Any prior surgery, punctures? In that area.

Inclusion cyst: usually this would be an inclusion cyst or normal ear cartilidge, if there is no skin involvement, ie bleeding or redness, it would be unusual for this to be something of concern

Probably an: enlarged lymph node or infected cyst.  If it persists, enlarges beyond 1cm,  or becomes painful, you should see a doctor.

Likely ok: Lymph nodes can present like that, but it could be something els also.  You didn't say how long it has been there or if it is growing or tender. These are all things your doctor will want to know if it doesn't go away in 2-3 wks.

Earlobe Cyst: Sebaceous cysts are the most common type of cysts seen in the ear. They are bulging, sac-like collections of dead skin cells and oils produced by oil glands in the skin.
They commonly occur:
behind the ear
in the ear canal
in the earlobe
on the scalp.

Cyst?: It is not uncommon to develop a cyst in the ear, scalp or neck.  They are usually benign and do not cause a problem.  Still to be sure you would have to have it excised and put under a microscope.  If it bothers you, is painful, or begins to grow rapidly see a surgeon for removal

Lymph node, salivary: Adjacent to the ear lobe is the parotid salivary gland and lymph nodes so the lump could be from one of these structures.  Also can have skin cysts in this location.  Suggest watching it and to see ENT if it gets bigger or if there is pain or tenderness to touch.

Epidermoid cyst ?: If you have pierced ears and the area of the painful lump is close by, you could have epidermoid cyst.  This is caused by implantation of epidermis (skin cells) into the dermis (below the skin level) during ear piercing. They can also be caused by a blocked pore adjacent to the piercing. Cysts can be removed by surgical excision if it is causing significant discomfort.
