can you tell me what 61 hounsfield units on a tumor means?

Refers to density: Hounsfield units are a measure of how easily xrays penetrate the object, and therefore how dense it is. For example structures with lots of air in them, allow xrays to easily pass and have very low hu values ( lung would be (-) 700, water is 0, muscle has a score of 40,  bone being very dense is 700. What a score of 61 means  depends on other factors ( where the tumor is, its shape etc).

i have a anterior mass it is a 20 on hunsfield was 1.2 cm now 2.3 cm in size.it is anterior and on the upper pole of the left kidney. what does this mean?

: It is best you discuss the report of imaging studies with your medical provider, then it would make sense to you in context of other informations that they may have about you. The information you have provided is not enough to tell you what is really going on though the mention of mass seems intimidating.

: Are you sure the previous size of the exophytic solid appearing mass was 10.2 cm or that was the size of the left kidney? If it's true the mass has shrunk, malignancy is ruled out.

Hounsfield Units: Hounsfield Units are used to described the density of an area on MRI.  This can be relevant in the attempt to determine the nature of the lesion.

dr. h handields i just want to mentioned that i have a weak immune system& i was diagnosed with stomach ulcers & h.pylori so could this cause delayed seroconversion. i have had lots of symptoms but neg after 5months post exposure to hiv. she is hiv?

: There are NO medical conditions that delay seroconversion in people exposed to HIV. That includes "weak immune system", H pylori infection, or any other medical problem or medication you will ever think of. In fact, with the modern HIV tests (i.e. testing for both HIV antigen and antibody -- AgAb or "4th generation" tests" -- testing would be even more reliable in immune deficiency conditions.

Excised, right?: If this is a benign giant cell tumor of the tendon sheath, read by a pathologist, then congratulations. It is not a cause for concern. If you were given the diagnosis "giant cell tumor of bone" at this location, have a few other pathologists look at it, as this would be unusual.

The 2: Nationally known cancer research centers are scripps and uc san diego.  I've worked at the nci and 5 nci designated centers, and I am not sure that you have to go to one of these for most cases of breast cancer care. In fact, sometimes going to your local center/doctor first, and seeking the 2nd opinion is best. You choose.

Brain PET...: There are several tracers which can be used with pet.  The most common is FDG (glucose).  There is normally high glucose utilization in the brain making brain evaluation difficult.  Brain pet can be helpful in assessing tumor grade,  evaluating for dementia, and mapping seizure foci.  Not sure what additional information it will provide in your case.
