Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without examining the hand. Was there any trauma to the hand? Is there a swelling, redness or other visible abnormality? If there is no visible abnormality try tylenol (acetaminophen) and if the pain does not go away in a couple of days or gets worse, see your doctor.

Swelling: Tendons swell in the morning, causing problems like trigger finger and pressure on the nerve, aka carpal tunnel syndrome.   All tendons have synovial fluid surrounding it.  It acts like a lubrication and has anti-inflammatory properties.  When you go to sleep, you're not moving your hands as much, synovial fluid dries up, and tendons swell. You, "get the juices flowing, " ;  less pain as day goeson.

More serious are inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, etc. Need medical eval/testing
