It is important to recognize that tears occur from trauma or muscle imbalance and proper strengthening is essential for recovery and to reduce future injury.

: Whenever rehabilitating an injury I tell my patients to listen to your body. If you are having pain do not do it.  In other words, built up to a given exercise. Do not expect to be able to return to normal right away.  There are incorrect and correct ways to rehabilitate an injury. Learn how to use icing and heat to your benefit  Physical therapist are excellent resource

: Most of the time stretching helps to prevent injury. I believe you injured the hamstring during a sudden burst of speed.

: Depends on exactly which one. If you heard a pop it may have been your Plantaris muscle and ususally heals quickly. Your body is talking to you.  Listen and take good notes. Then share with your Dr and you all will be able to figure out what is going on and how to fix it.  Good luck.

: You are a 14-year-old male. Your muscle will heal in a tightened position to heal the injury. Therefore you are starting at a very shortened muscle  position . You will have to gradually stretch the hamstring muscle out. Especially during your growing period. You will need to keep the muscle warm with Continue stretching will be required. This is a condition I have lived with successfully
