Many: Possible side effects include uncontrollable movements, restless feeling, insomnia, anxiety, drowsiness, feelingn you wanna kill someone, weight changes, dry mouth, breast tenderness or enlargement, nipple discharge, menstrual irregularities, photosensitivity.  Possible severe reactions can include seizures, high or low blood pressure, heat stroke, heart rhythm disturbance, and liver damage.

GI side effects: Aricept's main side effect is loss of appetite, nausea and resultant weight loss though it is less than other drugs in its class like exelon (rivastigmine).  Actually significant number of patients loose weight with Exelon (rivastigmine) and at one time i suspected it might be a good drug to help with weight loss in normal people.

Depends on SE: Several medications are used with Haldol (haloperidol) to reduce side effects.  Most commonly, the biggest problem is what are call eprs (extrapyramical resactions).  Anticholinergics are highly beneficial, and a commonly used one is benztropine (cogentin).  Agitation also sometimes occurs as a side-effect, and a benzodizaapine such as Lorazepam (ativan) can help with that.

Risperlit: Risperlit influences the neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin to restore their balance and thus improve mood, thinking and behavior. From my reading, I don't see that it alters brain structures and leads to dementia. A psychiatrist, who would have much experience working with this medication, and/or a pharmacist would be best to answer your question, however.

Up tp 24 hours or so: The side effects of Haldol (haloperidol) should normally take about 24 hours, but some such as akathesia may take a couple of days.  As for cogentin, if you took only one dose, the effects should mostly abate after 24 hours, definitely in 36 hours.

Risperdal : Risperdal is indicated to treat a disease called schizophrenia. Depakote can be used for treatment of seizures or bipolar illness. Unless your patient has been diagnosed with any of these diseases, using Risperdal or Depakote to treat dementia or complications arising from dementia would be considered what is often called the "off-label" use. While doctors are essentially free to prescribe any medication they consider necessary to treat any particular patient, as long as the treatment benefits are greater than risks, there are caveats to this approach. Risperdal and other medications of this class (collectively known as "atypical antipsychotics" have been deemed by the us food and drug administration (fda) as dangerous and causing increased mortality when they are being used off-label - for treatment of dementia. The fda warning of this side effect is known as a "black-box warning" and is a boxed statement found prominently displayed on the Risperdal prescribing information brochure that typically accompanies the packaged drug or promotional materials. Depakote does not have this warning, however, absent symptoms of bipolar illness or seizure disorder, there are no clinical trial data convincingly showing that the drug helps to reduce symptoms of dementia or its complications (such as agitation). There are numerous other side effects of these medications, the most common of which, is muscle stiffness and falls. Ankle swelling was the earliest and most common side effect in some clinical trials of Risperdal in dementia. Since both medications can cause muscle stiffness, it is likely that taking both at the same time will enhance this effect. How rapidly the side effects appear depends on the type of dementia and other health issues that the person might be having. However, most side effects become apparent within 1 to 15 days of using the medication. The prescribing physician should be very explicit about the black-box warning when recommending Risperdal and should very clearly communicate to the person who is making treatment decisions, all relevant information about side effects and expected benefits, if any, of these medications. Variable: Some people have few if any side effects. Dystonic reactions with muscle rigidity and tremors are relatively common, but relieved by Cogentin or benadryl (diphenhydramine). After long term use tardive dyskinesia may occur which is uncontrolled movements of tongue, lips, and/or extremities. As with any medication it is always a matter of risk vs benefit.
