A hairline Fx just-: -below the knee needs a long leg cast 2 immobilized the fracture. These can lead 2 non union as there is not much surface area involved. Once U R casted U can sleep in any position. If U R not casted B sure U R Cing an orthopedist.

Not at all: Typically nondisplaced fractures of the toes can be treated with a post-op walking shoe or nothing at all depending on the amount of pain you are having.

i sustained a hairline fracture to my lateral femoral condyle. doctor gave crutches and a hinged knee brace. can i use just my knee braces or are the crutches necessary as well?

: Truthfully, only the orthopedic surgeon that reviewed your x-rays can reliably answer this question.  On this forum, we would not be able to determine the risk of that hairline fracture advancing with weightbearing.  I suggest giving the doctor's office a call and getting an answer directly from that individual regarding the necessity to use the crutches.

hello i took my full leg cast of 5 days ago ( due to a hairline fracture in my tibia) i have been walking with a limp and saw my ankle got swollen ?

PT may be in order: Physical therapy can address the gait issue with limping as this is likely related to muscle weakness.In addtion they can do soft tissue massage to alleviate the ankle swelling. This can occur when muscles are weak and do not provide enough pumping action to return blood to the heart.Check in w/your Orthopedist or Sports MD to get a prescription &amp;/or agreement on next steps to get your gait normal

If the fracture is: not healed and you re-injure, recovery will be delayed and you risk permanent damage to the origninal fracture i=or injury elsewhere by guarding the original fracture placing added stress on other joints.  My advice is to sit this one out.  There will be other games.

Have it evaluated.: If you have numbness you should have it looked at as soon as possible as that may indicate nerve trauma.  You will need to have an x-ray or other radiologic exams taken to see if you have a fracture.  Fractures usually need to be immobilized with a splint, cast, or rigid walking boot depending on the location of the injury.    Have your physician determine which course of treatment is best for you.

Depends: Unfortunately it depends on where the hairline fracture is located in your "knee".  The knee includes 4 different bones (femur, tibia, fibula, and patella.)  typically any hairline fracture is treated with a reduction of use. This may include using crutches to limit or eliminate weight bearing. You need to see your orthopedic surgeon for an evaluation and recommendation based on your fracture.
