Need more info: My recommendation would be to see a doctor asap since coughing up blood never has a benign cause.  On the other hand it would be helpful to know how long you have been ill, to whom you were exposed, whether you smoke, have fever, chills, nausea, shortness of breath, etc.  Make a list of everything and take it with you to the doctor.

See a doc: Any cough lasting more than a week and especially one associated with symptoms (chest pain) should be worked up for possible pneumonia. An exam and CXR seem to be in order.

You need to be seen.: The symptoms you describe make me want you to be seen in person.    Better safe than sorry.   You might have a virus, but it could be more serious.  Please go to your primary care doctor or an urgent care clinic right away.

Could be either: Symptoms of flu and routine viral respiratory disease overlap.  If  it is within the first couple days then get viral cultures for flu and start tamiflu (oseltamivir) if positive to shorten and decrease illness.  Otherwise treat symptoms.
