1. Dental Hygiene: 1. Visit dentist first to ensure there are no teeth issues and to check if you have a candid infection 
2. Use a disinfectant type mouthwash or at least a salt water solution - after ever meal and brush teeth regularly after each meal . 
3. make sure you are drinking enough fluids daily and if you are smoking - try to stop .

You may not know!: Most gum infections cause the patient no pain, and that's why the disease can do a lot of damage before the patient is aware they even have a problem.  But sometimes the gum will become swollen and even have a white-ish appearance to it like a pimple.

See your dentist: If you have a serious gum infection you definitely need to see a dentist or endodontist.  You will need gum care and possible antimicrobial agents.  Do not pass 'go' see your dentist before you end up with a systemic or blood stream infection then you will have to see a hospital!

7-10 days: Suprazol- Metronidazole.... is used for oral, gastrointestinal infections. Typical use is 7-14 days. Depends on location and severity of infection . If symptoms rapidly improving- reasonable is minimum 7 days treatment. Follow up with Doctor if doubt.

Pediatric dentist: A 17 month old should not be getting infections in their gums.  It is possible that this is a canker sore(apthus ulcer) or that your child is teething.  Rather then just treating this randomly you need to have them evaluated by a pediatric dentist so you know what is really going on.

One week: Usually the prescription is for about 10 days.  It won't cure the problem, just reduce the symptom until you can get the needed dental treatment.

Accepted Answer

No: Ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory. It has no antibiotic properties. The normal adult dose is 400 mg every 6 hrs as necessary. 8 mg would not exert any effect. Maybe you are thinking of another medicine?
