so i go through periods where i want and try, to lose weight. eventually i get to a point of noticable gains, feel really good about my progress, but then i feel guilty because i blame myself for letting global body image standards impact my view of myself.

i'm right around 250-255lbs, and i'd love to get down to the 200 i was in college. but i don't want to admit that my body is somehow lacking if i don't get down to that weight.

Weight mental health: You also need to consider non-mental health effects of weighing too much. One of the best ways to live a long time is to have a BMI &lt;25.  Go to one of the heart attack risk calculators and enter your info and then do it again to see if losing wt is worth it to you for living longer.  There are no calculators that enable one to enter body image anxiety as risk factor.  Discuss with your health team

Get professional help from your pediatrician or get a referral to preventive cardiology (or pediatric obesity).  With everyone in the same room at the same time, ask how to help the child.  It isn't about blame, it is now "all about the health of the child" now!
