i have been told i have reflux of my deeper veins around my groin and behind my knee. my legs are painful with edema 1 year. is this serious?

Could be: Need evaluation to make sure edema is due to venous cause and some other problem like cardiac. If other possible causes ruled out then see vein specialist as chronic edema will lead to many problems over time. While waiting it is prudent to wear compression stockings probably thigh high to keep edema down for noe. Put on when getting up in morning and wear till you go to bed.

i recently had an mri of my pelvis for pain that ive had for a few years now. the results said that my cecum is low lying. my cecal wall appears relatively thick, but that there is no evidence of edema in the adjacent tissues. what could that mean?

: I'll translate the reading as best I can, though it won't diagnose the cause of pain.  The cecum (first part of colon that the small intestine empties into), lies low.  This may be just normal variation. Though the wall is "relatively" thick, sometimes you can see this if it's not distended.  It's more of a descriptive term.  Edema (fluid) in wall, would suggest inflammation, though it's not seen.

i am 8 months post op for inguinal hernia repair.   i'm in pt for another surgery 4 months ago and have testicular edema.  i think it is related.

Hernia?: An exam can tell this for sure.  Infection or swollen lymph node can occur in the groin, but a loop of bowel in the groin can cause a growling noise

See a doctor: May be an inguinal or groin hernia. See a doctor for an exam to see if it is pain from a muscle injury or a possible hernia. Find out what your options for possible treatments are.

Swelling: Minor swelling could be considered normal. But significant swelling in your groin area after an angiogram could be more serious.  This could be a hematoma or even a pseudo aneurysm. Or it could be basic swelling that just requires warm compresses and a motrin. You should call your surgeon's office and obtain an office visit to be sure.

Check with surgeon.: Often just a collection of fluid called a seroma. Can be bleeding resulting in a hematoma, or what is called a pseudoaneurysm. Rarely can be infection.

Possible Hernia: A hernia results from a weakening in the abdominal wall, allowing intestines to poke through.  If you can "push" the swelling back but it returns, then it likely is a hernia.  
If the swelling gets worse, becomes reddened or is associated with increased pain/nausea/vomiting, you would need to go to the er immediately.  The intestines can become trapped, stopping their blood flow (strangulation).

Consult your Doctor: You have a swelling, a bruise and pain.You need to consult your doctor to make syre there is nothing serious going on.Meanwhile if you have no vomiting, you can take tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin for pain.
