Therapy can help: Psychotherapy can help with grief.  Check with a local hospital for a therapist who works in this area.  
Grief often comes at us in waves.  It is detrimental to our overall health and must be dealt with.  For many people keeping busy is helpful.  
Be sure you take care of your nutritional needs during this time.  Sleep enough but do not oversleep.  Hopefully your grief will pass soon.

Grief: Go through the stages of grief (shock, denial, anger, bargaining, depression & acceptance)f & hold on to support system you have. Seek counseling for added support.

what is the best way to treat a client with unresolved grief over the loss of their child?

Accepted Answer

Unresolved grief: Losing a child is one of the hardest losses to endure. Treatment must include a screening to rule out depression subsequent to the unresolved grief. The client should be helped to understand the normal processes of grief, including denial, anger, bargaining, before getting to the difficult but achievable state of acceptance. Treatment may include group work with others who share loss of a child.

Some Thoughts: Don't force agenda. Children grieve their own timetable. They may be playing happily one minute, & ready to talk the next.
Let child pick communication style. Some kids prefer to let puppets or stuffed animals "talk" it out for them. Some express in art. Talking may be easier while walking, looking through pictures.

Depends on you.: This probably depends on your situation with cancer.  If it is curable, and treatment is successful, there likely won't be any.  If it is involved, and treatment is complicated, loss and grief can happen at any time, depending on how you feel.  Different people get affected by different things.  Some are affected very little, and understand this is what they must do.  Group therapy may help..

can short term memory loss be caused by traumatic experiences , stress grief .. is losing your memory permament or as depression lifts it will return ?

Yes trauma does this: Trauma releases chemicals that are deleterious to your memory cells. Some of those memory cells unfortunately die off. Part of the action of antidepressants is to stimulate brain derived  neurotrophic  factor, which helps those brain cells regrow so that your memory becomes sharper again. Best wishes.:).

Lovan Medication: I am empathic to  the loss of your mother and issues with your dad.
Please see a psychiatrist  for treatment of depression including psychotherapy and medication
lovan can take 1-2 weeks  for  improvement in depression.  Be patient.

which antidepressant causes weight loss? i've been on many and last one was effexor (venlafaxine) xr as others make me tired. i put on weight. am depressed grieving

Accepted Answer

Depressed & grieving: Active grieving of a loss needs support more than medication. If the grief has become depression with poor self esteem, ongoing vegetative signs (changes in sleep, energy, appetite etc), & worthlessness etc antidepressants may help.  Wellbutrin (bupropion) does not reliably cause weight loss, but it's less likely to cause weight gain than some others.  Lexapro may be relatively weight neutral also.

i had a miscarriage in january, and upon examination, they found a 7cm tubular "cyst." my obgyn, told me i was fine, and to start trying to conceive again after my next menstral cycle. i waited about 6 months because i needed to grieve the loss, and event

Repeat Ultrasound: Sorry about your miscarriage.  If you were in my office, I would order an ultrasound to follow-up on the 7cm cyst.  That is quite large and I would want to verify that it was gone.  Best wishes!
