Could be infected.: You're description makes it entirely possible that you're cut is infected.  You should have it looked at right away.  You may need an antibiotic and manual cleaning of the site.

Healing: After the tonsillectomy the area where the tonsils used to be can turn white and then slowly return to pink. This is the natural course. Scabs are usually dark black/red spots and usually only in a few locations (they dont cover the entire area).

That could be normal: or it could be the sign of an infection. In a 2 year old you would like to avoid a lifetime scar in such a prominent place. An infection could lead to significant scarring. You owe it to the child to take him to a health care professional and have the cut/scab/wound evaluated.

scab fell off my wound from surgery after a bath. it was yellow/green. can see stitches now through the "hole" left behind. is this normal?

Call your surgeon: The sutures that your are seeing may be absorbable sutures that "dissolves" over several weeks.  If you have redness, increased pain, fever, or pus like drainage see your doctor right away as you may be getting a wound infection.  As far as the "hole" I would keep this area clean and dry and covered with a sterile gauze.   Do not let moisture get into the wound.  Ask your surgeon!

Probably ok: Unless there is surrounding redness there is probably no infection. Don't try to remove the scab. Keep the area clean and dry, but apply Bacitracin type ointment daily. Make sure your tetanus immunization is up to date.

i had my wisdom teeth taken out a week ago and one of the green/yellow scabs is loose and appears to be about to fall off. there was no blood and i don't have pain but it seems soon for the scab to be falling off already. is there reason to worry?

It is normal: The “yellow scab” over a healing extraction site is a normal healing process. This should not be confused with an infection. Nothing to worry. If concerned, always ask your surgeon for more information.

Not a good idea: No it is a bad idea, after the wound has healed a scab is formed and it will fall of by itself, if you pick it or try to remove it sometime it may cause some bleeding and infection, as the healing is not complete 100%.

Dry: Dry, but antiseptic ointments and/or vitamin E oil can be helpful.
