Sounds like: ear infection with Pseudomonas, which is a bacteria that can cause greenish drainage with a peculiar odor.  It requires treatment with certain antibiotics.  You need to see a doctor.

Don't: Ear wax or cerumen is modified sweat and is secreted by glands in the ear canal.  The wax is beneficial and is protective.  Wax always migrates from inside to outside and that is why instrumentation will usually push it back into the ear canal and impact it against the ear drum.  If the wax build up causes hearing loss, fullness and pressure, please go to an ENT doc.  In summary do not clean wax.

Remove earwax: Cerumen is easily removed with any of the over the counter devices available at most pharmacies.  The easiest is an ear syringe which is a rubber bulb that can be filled with body temperature tap water and gently squirted into the ear so as to wash the wax out.  If the wax has dried and "impacted",  using a product such as ceruminex before hand can soften the wax and enable it to be washed out.

Don't: For vast majority of adults and children, wax will come out on its own and you just need to wipe away wax that you see on the outside of the ear, no need to put anything into ear canal.  Only people that have had ear surgery or are born with narrow ear canals need special cleaning.

Ear wax: Not really.  Everyone produces at a different rate.  Keeping your ear clear of buildup usually just requires a damp washcloth while you bathe or shower daily.  Don't push the wax down the canal, though.  Avoid sticking q-tips down the canal, too.

Have someone (doc or nurse) look in your ears when you are concerned and use over the counter ear wax melters like Cerumenex only cheaper. Follow the directions. Hearing impairment is about the worst side effect of excess wax. Itching, wax dripping out when you least expect it.

Don't use swabs!!!: Cotton swabs tend to pack the wax deeper into the ear canal more than removing it and is universally considered a bad idea by experts. Don't do it! you can try hydrogen peroxide, oils and irrigation with water but if your ears are really full of wax it might be hard to remove without seeing a doctor.
