about 15 months ago i had an echocardiogram which led to good results. what is the likely of having heart problems since my last test?

Heart problems: There are many kinds of 'heart problems'.  Having a normal echocardiogram rules out many of them and is unlikely to change without something happening to you and signalling its presence by symptoms. Those 'heart problems' not demonstrated by echocardiogram, of course, aren't included.

Don't Understand: The types of stress listed in the question are unclear to me. 

Usually an echocardiogram is done at rest, and sometimes at cardiac stress, with exercise, or more commonly, with a medicine to increase cardiac workload.

had an echocardiogram & holter monitor 1 year ago & another holter monitor 1 month ago. all results were good. would this show any risk of heart attck?

Accepted Answer

No: holter monitor shows the electrical rhythm at any given time. It is not predictive of occlusive coronary artery disease. The echocardiogram reveals function of the ventricles and valvular function. When the LV function is normal it is predictive of a good prognosis. However it does not predict heart attacks.

: Most medical technicians and assistants are very familiar with anxious patients and will adjust procedures to enhance relaxation and improve cooperation.  Your emotional state should not impact the outcomes of your described tests.

Echo: Echo shows cardiac structure and function. It gives a lot of information about the heart. It is a basic test used in cardiologic evaluation and is indicated in many conditions including ischemia.

Accepted Answer

27 mm?: What was 27 mm - your left atrium? your aortic root? your interventricular septum? Your mitral E point to septal separation? etc.?  Some of those would be good and some very very bad, depending on what it was that was 27 mm!

It : It would be possible.  Most often this occurs by an error in placing the leads in the appropriate positions.

will drinking the night before an echocardiogram have an affect on the results?

Accepted Answer

Probably not: EKG measures electrical activity of the heart. While alcohol is a depressant and can lead to being ‘drunk’, it should exit the body in a few hours. If a hangover occurs, it may lead to a change in heart rate during that time, but other than that, should not induce abnormal rhythms or delays if they were not present before imbibing.
Do seek help if your drinking is out of control!

Well: A normal echocardiogram is very reassuring. There are different type echocardiograms with him without Doppler studies any saline or Bubble
 study. You really need to ask the cardiologist who did the test for more specific information what was done what was checked for and recommendations for follow up
