A member asked:

Will drinking the night before an echocardiogram have an affect on the results?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably not: EKG measures electrical activity of the heart. While alcohol is a depressant and can lead to being ‘drunk’, it should exit the body in a few hours. If a hangover occurs, it may lead to a change in heart rate during that time, but other than that, should not induce abnormal rhythms or delays if they were not present before imbibing. Do seek help if your drinking is out of control!
