Unclear: Metformin taken without other diabetic medications does not cause hypoglycemia.  You may have had the feeling that your sugar was low, but if you were testing your sugar it would not be truly low (under60).  You likely have type 2 diabetes.  Metformin is helpful to continue, no matter what your sugar is, to decrease Insulin resistance, and forestall worsening of diabetes.

From : From the way this is written,  i believe you are implying that you have not been formally diagnosed by a medical provider with diabetes mellitus.   First, normally to call a blood sugar test a fasting level, you would go without eating for a minimum of 8 hours.  There are a number of methods for testing glucose to include a fasting blood sugar, a 2-hour postprandial blood sugar (done 2 hours after you start eating a meal), a random blood sugar and an oral glucose tolerance test  which is most often used for pregnant women.  You need to be seen by your doctor who will order glucose testing and then evaluate the results. I do not believe the information you provided is conclusive for a diagnosis of diabetes. That does not mean that you don't have diabetes. Recommend that you see your doctor. If you are diabetic , you will be offered extensive education on diet, what blood sugar tests mean, diabetes mellitus and overall life style changes to improve your health. Take care.

i don't have macular degeneration but a relative does. is macular degeneration ever associated with other medical problems apart form diabetes & the damage that smokers self-inflict?

i've been getting frequent headaches and nosebleeds. i have diabetes only happens when i take care of my self.. is it my meds or something else?

Should not be meds: If you do not take anything but the Insulin you list. It is probably from dryness. Try putting a cool mist humidifier in your room and coat your nose with ayr nasal gel with vaseline over it at night when you sleep. It should help. To stop a nose bleed hold your nose at the end of the cartiledge as hard as you can for 1-0 minutes by the clock.Good work taking care of yourself !

because i am self isolating due to my type 1 diabetes, should my wife who is a nurse in a gp surgery, be isolating with me? or is it safe for her to still go to work?

More than a virus: Following local authorities recommendations, specifically if she has access to appropriate protective equipment would be the way to go. It is more than a personal decision and even though anxiety is hitting high levels such a decision would have multiple implications, including social and financial.

i just done a cae blood test by self order for general check i'm 71 and had none significant diabetes the lab result is 4.3 ng/ml and reference range in lab is less 5.2 so is this in your experience normal regarding cut off numbers im non smoker ?
