Ministry of Health: NZ Ministry guidelines published in 2009 which are very clear that surgery is a last resort option that is only recommended if all non-surgical options have been tried and failed. Then it is offered to people with BMI > 40 or BMI >35 if they have a related illness (e.g. diabetes). Weight loss is really hard. See your GP to get as much help as possible! (e.g. dietician referral). Good luck!
