what happens if i use a reading glass though i have perfect vision? is that harmful?

No problem: A reader will magnify the image and allow smaller details to be seen.  Magnification is routine for those dealing with fine details such as jewelers, watchmakers, electronic assembly workers, etc.   There is no harm in this and you will have the enjoyment of seeing finer, smaller objects.

Accepted Answer

No but why: Most kids do not need reading glasses.  So why are they being used in a child?  A child with an eye problem should see a pediatric ophthalmologist and get the best correction or treatment possible.

Normal presbyopia: From around age 40 the lens cannot focus near objects as clearly. Use over the counter reading glasses to help.

Presbyopia normal: This is normal.  As we get older we gradually lose our ability to focus on things closer to us.  Our "near vision"- this loss is called presbyopia.  It is corrected by adding a "close up" refraction to your glasses- for reading called "an add.".

Reflex tearing: Your description sounds most like reflex tearing from dry eye.  This is treated with artificial tears and warm compresses.  If tearing is constant and never lets up, then jt could be related to an issue in your tear drainage system.  You should see an eye doctor for further evaluation and treatment.

+2.50: +2.50 would probably be the closest, but try them on. Pick the weakest ones that let you read at a comfortable distance. Remember, the stronger the glasses, the closer you have to hold the reading material and the smaller the range of vision. So, for a computer distance you might try a 1.25.

Different symptoms : Floaters don't have "pressure-like" feelings. It sounds like you're experiencing pain when pushing on your eyes. Well don't do it then. Blurred vision could be a need for new glasses. You're old enough for reading glasses, which are fine. Because your symptoms are varied, an exam would be very helpful to sort them out. An eye tumor would be a very unlikely concern, but again an exam will help.

Post op vision: Catarct surgery replaces the cloudy lens in the eye with a clear lens, but may not eliminate the need for distance or reading glasses. If the surgery went well, it should be possible to get an exact glasses prescription at 2 months that would help reading (rather than just using very strong readers). If the vision cannot be cleared with glasses, more evaluation needs to be done to find out why.

how do you properly clean out glass from a wound?

Accepted Answer

Tricky: As the glass can be hard to see and removal without care can damage tissue around the glass. I recommend going to an er to check this out. Ultrasound is a great tool to look for residual glass in the wound. You might need antibiotics to treat/prevent infection. Overall, not a good idea to deal with this on your own.
