Too Broad: Liver inflammation is caused by infection, obesity, genetics, drug interactions, alcohol use, and cancers.  There are dozens of possibilities and further testing is mandatory with this simple screening result of abnormal liver functions.

hello,my ggt level was 92.my liver function panel was good. all tests within normal reference range. ast is normal, aswell as complete blood count. i drank somewhat heavily 4 days before blood test. my question is what should i make of these results?

Not much: GGT is exquisitely  sensitive to alcohol induced liver damage and test should be performed while abstaining for at least a week or drinking the regular amount in order to get a reliable baseline value. Talk to your doc who would be able to discuss it further in your clinical context, test will definitely have to be repeated in few weeks among possible other tests.

It is high!: Ggt comes from the liver, but not the liver cells.  It comes from the biliary tract and the fibrous tissue holding the liver together.  Most common causes for elevations include gall bladder issues, but it can be raised in certain autoimmune diseases, primary biliary cirrhosis. It can also indicate a mass in the liver.  I would recommend additional blood work and a liver/gb ultrasound!

Be brave! EZ duz it: If you are being monitored for compliance with an abstinence program, the real question is how you will stop. Your drinking endangers yourself & probably other people. Once you start, stopping is very hard. If you have a sponsor, tell them you've had a slip & want help. May be: You liver enzymes are mild/moderately elevated and it is important to determine the cause and treat that. One common cause is drinking alcohol, if you drink, stop entirely and get tested again in three months. Viral infections, and some medications can also alter liver enzymes. What is a Unit?: if a unit is the equivalent of a pint of beer, that's a lot, and it will cause serious problems.  The liver tests look like they are already showing liver damage,  Someone who drinks that much alcohol needs professional help to stop, which will hopefully keep the liver from getting worse.
