Side effect is: possible. Flu shot side effects may include:  slight swelling, redness or pain at vaccination site.  If headache, nausea, fever or  muscular pain occur they usually resolve within one to two days.  You won't get the flu from a flu shot because the virus either contains inactivated virus or doesn't have virus particles in it. Severe side effects are rare.

is it ok to take garlic supplement after getting flu shot 5 days ago? it has anti - viral affect, can i take it or not?

OK to take: Garlic is promoted as beneficial for many things. The things for which the evidence is strongest is improving high blood pressure and preventing colon and stomach cancer if garlic is eaten (not supplements). The evidence for preventing viruses/colds is weaker. It should not interfere with desired antibody production following a flu shot.

finishing 12 days of prednisone for various issues. how long after my last day on pred should i wait before getting flu shot and covid booster? i'm not acutely ill anymore, but i know i should wait until pred is out of my system before my shots?

: The  vaccinations may be administered as per the usual protocol as advised by your physician. One day after finishing steroids, the COVID 19 vaccination may be obtained. Steroid injections should be scheduled after the COVID 19 vaccination rather than beforehand. Shingles vaccination should be administered two weeks or more after the COVID 19 vaccination.

itchy red welts developed 10 days after getting flu shot. had similar reaction last year. no trouble breathing; last year welts went away after 14 days.  i think hives are a very rare side effect of flu shot, right? should i skip a flu shot next year

Flu vaccination: There is very rarely an allergic reaction associated with the influenza vaccination. Take Benadryl as directed for three days, and if the hives continue, please see your PCP. Watch for signs of respiratory difficulty, dizziness, and if these occur please see the emergency room.
The flu vaccination may be administered next year, but an allergist may advise additional testing.

6 mos old: Flu vaccine has past muster in research trials for children 6 mos and older. In  the near future, trials are studying whether it can be given even younger.And the yearly after that age.

Mostly local reactio: As long as you are otherwise healthy, you can't get the flu from the flu shot- since it is a dead virus. Only the nasal spray (live attenuated virus) could cause flu-like symptoms in some individuals.  Side effects are mostly localized redness or swelling which usually goes away quickly and could be treated with an anti-inflammatory pain killer if bothersome.

Great question!: Many people have opinions about "how" to boost the immune system.  Practically speaking, there is no correct answer to this.  The immune system is very complex and I am not aware of anything in particular that will globally "boost" this.  A good diet, regular exercise, and an appropriate amount of sleep are good things along with the things that you are doing.

still got a blocked nose,  cough and a cold sore. how long should i wait before getting flu jab?

If you are in the: 70's age range, then I would say a full week after your last fever and/or active sore/cough.  Your immune system should have recovered by now, but challenging it again with something as virulent as influenza so soon after it was battered by the previous infection would not be the most prudent thing to do.  Though the question is have you had flu "jabs" before?
