can you get genital warts on your hands?

Warts are warts 1st.: Warts are an infection with a strain of the human papilloma virus. They are not just 'genital' or not.  They infect the skin where ever you are exposed.

Warts may transfer: Yes, warts may transfer to other parts of your body. As you stated, warts are caused by HPV which is a virus. Most often this virus is spread by scratching a wart and then scratching another area of your body, damaging the skin barrier, and letting the virus in. In the vast majority of cases the HPV strains that caus warts on the hands are NOT the same strain that cause genital warts.

No need for fear: Well, I understand your concern and obviously don't know how badly your hands are affected by these "warts" but obviously not wanting to use your hands to eat or touch ANYTHING is a little extreme. Have you seen your doctor about treatments? There are a number of options including surgical removal if these things are that pervasive and annoying.

Somehwat: Both genital warts and common warts are caused by strains of the hpv virus.  They are caused by two different strains.  Each strain of hpv tends to have favorite body parts in which to develop warts.  Some strains focus on the penis, others on the female cervix, some on the hands, and some on the feet.  While it is possible to spread  to other areas, warts tend to usually stay on their home turf.
