excessive burping but no heartburn pain - i am on omeprazole and using gas x to no avail. are there any medications that can help with my excess gas?

Rather than trying: to treat the gas it would be important to find out why you are having so much gas. Is there lactose intolerance or other food intolerance? Do you have a small bowel obstruction? Are there duodenal diverticula present? You need to see a qualified health care professional or specialist and get to the root of the problem.

my whole digestive tract (from throat through bowels to rectum) is always gurgling. doctor says it's likely ibs/gerd, but no medications work to stop it, i've tried antacids, gas-x etc, only thing that seems to work a little is peppermint tea?

: The gurgling is due to peristaltis, contractions of the intestinal tract moving juices,foods down towards the colon &amp;rectum. Apparently you don't have any other symptoms like loose stools, cramps,bloating,heartburn. If the gurgling is a nuisance a medication like dicyclomine could quiet those intestinal gurgling sounds.

i take gas x every day . they  told me that i may have gastritis... and if gas x is a drug , isn't it bad every day?

Not necessarily bad: Gasx is simethicone, which works on gas.  Not necessarily bad. However, if you have gastritis, you probably need to deal with the acidity as well. Acid buffers or blockers would help the gastritis greatly.  Buffers such as antacids like maalox, mylanta, tums, etc work well. Acid blockers like zantac (ranitidine) or Pepcid (histamine blockers) or prilosec/ Prevacid (proton pump inhibitors) are very effective.

Accepted Answer

No known: There are no known adverse reactions when taking phillips milk of magnesia (magnesium hydroxide) and simethicone concomitantly.

Accepted Answer

After eating: Simethicone is an anti-foaming agent that allows gas bubbles to pass more quickly. Simethicone does not prevent formation of gas bubbles. Based on this action, it would be better to take after you eat when symptomatic, as the directions on the package indicate.

i took gas x yesterday it didn't work. why does that happen?

: Trapped intestinal gas should eventually break down&amp; get passed out through the rectum. If it remains unpassed and especially if there's abdominal distension, vomiting,severe pain, intestinal obstruction would be a cause. Certain medications or,injuries can cause a paralytic ileus &amp;also be a cause of persistent gas accumulation. See a physician for evaluation&amp;advice or go to the emergency room

: If you're sure it's intestinal gas that causes abdominal bloating, drinking hot water and applying heat to the abdomen helps break down the gas and allows the bubbles to be passed down and out the rectum which is how gas is supposed to be passed.

Accepted Answer

Different purposes: Gas-x (simethicone) relieves pressure and bloating caused by gas in the digestive tract.  Antacids relieve "heartburn", also known as acid reflux or acid indigestion.

cpap causes daily painful trapped gas that lasts a long time. gas-x works well for relief. safe to take on a regular/daily basis?

: So the air goes in the wrong way when you use the CPAP, likely because you use the whole mask, not nasal mask. Your CPAP equipment should be adjusted, talk to your doctor and the therapist about this complication. However, Gas X, simethicone, is not absorbed so it is safe to use long term.
