Depends: Scar will continue to modify itself for up to a year or 18 months.  It will change during this time. After that, the scar is matured. Once the scar is matured, it does not change.

Depends: 2nd degree burn is a wide range of injury from fairly mild to very severe.  A small mild second degree burn will leave a scar that fades quickly while a severe full thickness burn with less than ideal treatment may leave a very bad scar or may have needed skin grafting and may never fade completely and may require silicone compression or plastic surgery to completely eliminate.

A simple deep sunburn might cause skin pigment changes that fade in a few years or less. For deep thickness burns the scar may last forever.

Burns and Scars: Burns are classified to their degree of damage; a first degree burn usually does not leave a scar but it may leave a discoloration to the skin. Being a poorly controlled diabetic, can lengthen the healing process since your immune system and circulatory system is already compromised from the diabetes. Keep the wound clean, wash it with warm, soapy water and apply a burn cream topically with gauze.
