Hard to say: A doctor would have to look at it to be able to say what's going on.  I'd suggest an appointment with your family doctor or an urgent care clinic.

Unlikely: To be gangrene if you have good blood supply to your fingers. It sounds like a crush injury. If you have pink fingers and they move as normal and without pain and there are no open lesions it all sounds good. Continue to monitor the temperature of your fingers and follow up with your MD for concerns. All the best.

Frostbite: Frostbite is dead tissue from freezing damage. Gangrene would be from the dead tissue, not bacteria. Dead tissue may become secondarily infected with bacteria. Immune response does not help dead tissue & our bodies do not replace or regrow dead structures.

Need aggressive: treat meant , to save the finger and spread of infection to the hand ,  injury may be more extensive than you are describing , speak to your doctor again , or preferably see a hand surgeon.

Call her doctor: If the pain is truly severe, call your doctor an get seen today. Could be an ulcer from the stress if the illness, and you don't want that to get worse.

Dry or wet?: Either is fairly obvious and requires treatment. Wet unusually associated with progressive necrosis/death of tissues with a foul odor and occasionally has air in fhe tissues characterized by a crunchy sound when pressed. If usually occurs in immunocompromised patients in areas of compromised blood supply. The area is surrounded by increased redness. Dry gangrene tends to exhibit black tissue.
