: Guillain-Barre Syndrome can last several weeks usually and does not  "resolve" with i.v. fluids.  A modest drop in sodium as listed would not be expected to cause such severe symptoms, but glad you had a reversal with fluids, suggesting dehydration. Not quite sure: Nutrient imbalance is a very vague, non medical term. Different people imply different notions. Say, fat malabsorption due to pancreatitis (chronic) may cause nutrient imbalance in that fat is being lost from the body. Glutein intolerance may cause iron deficiency anemia, which is nutrient imbalance due to lack of iron. B12 malabsorption will lead to decrease of B12 and nutrient imbalance.

Means nothing: Hi. "Hormone imbalance" is a lay term, and means nothing to a physician. There are a bazillion hormonal systems in the body than can be "out of balance" to use your terminology. Sodium, potassium: These are the most common to have imbalance but also magnesium, calcium, chloride and phosphorus are all electrolytes since by definition they all have electrical charge in the ionic (reactive) state.

Perhaps...: The cause of ic is unknown, but certain foods, usually associated with a high acid content, have been known to increase the irritability associated with ic.
