Fiber: Unfortunately, all fiber supplements produce more gas. That is just the price of trying to be healthy. It usually gets better over time, and is nothing serious. More of a nuisance. You can certainly try different supplements to see which is best for you. Some people also try taking Probiotics instead of fiber, which usually does not cause the gas issue.

Plenty of liquids: There are many othereasons to increase your fiber. It helps to keep you regular. Many people don't recognize that they are slightly constipated - their stools may be hard or they have to strain a little or they have to drink coffee in order to have a bowel movement. Fiber also helps you to feel fuller longer.

Make sure you drink plenty of liquid!!! Stop for diarrhea or severe constipation.

Simple remedies: If drinking water doesn't help, try a home enema. If she is impacted, get to her physician. If this is a longstanding problem, she'll be checked for porphyria and hypothyroidism.

It contributes: Ignoring the urge to have a BM may contribute to constipation. It may alter or eliminate that natural urge to defecate.  Every person in the world has to "poo", &amp; we all know there is an odor.  Please do not ignore the urge to go when you have it, even if you are not in a convenient or ideal place. Add dietary fiber (bran, whole wheat, brown rice), water, exercise; better than Fybogel.

Sorry,: but aspartame does NOT cause cancer. Don't get your medical information from friends, tv or internet scams. It would be much better to get your fiber from your diet or a more conventional fiber supplement.

Chronic constipation: Sounds like you are chronically constipated, given the meds you are on. Constipation can be from diet, meds, anatomical, neurological  causes. Left colon gets cleaned out with enemas for a sigmoidoscopy.  This may all be normal for you, but don't have any details.  Call md who did procedure, report in.
