But it is !!: Mmr if given in infancy and childhood will generally give a person lifelong immunity. In some cases, it does not and the vaccine can be repeated in adulthood. The original MMR was given once around 12-15 months for about 23 years when they realized a few were not protected by college age. After about 1990 we began giving a booster & that seemed to fix the issue.

Not related to shot: With it being a week later, the symptoms are likely not related to the shot.  Treat this like you would any other illness.  It could be just a cold and give tylenol (acetaminophen) for fever greater than 101.  If the fever continues have your pediatrician take a look.

Be grateful: Nothing is wrong. Your child is content, well fed, loved and does not feel a need to fuss. Some babies (and people) in life are just laid back and content. Others like to make a fuss. If his personality is to be content and happy, REJOICE!

Check for the cause: Treatable causes should be addressed; hunger, fever, pain, overstimulation, injuries, bloody stools, excesive vomitting, refusal of feeds. If a check is normal then focus on soothing measures: carry baby, swaddling to limit movements, infant massage, pacifier, car rides etc. You should be well rested and stress free; call your pcp if there is risk of harm to baby or any of the causes mentioned above.

my 7 mth old has infrequent bms, often 7-9 days and when she goes it's huge & explosive!  she is a fussy baby and hates to bend to sit. need i worry?

Explosive stools: You don't mention whether you are breast or bottle feeding. From your description i'm assuming you are breast feeding. Breast fed babies may have a solo with each feeding, they may have one once or twice a day or they may go as long as a week to ten days without having one.  Because of the delay these stools maybe explosive in nature.

Metoclopramide: Reglan (metoclopramide) can be prescribed by your obgyn to help boost lactation.

can a baby get the mmr shot a week before there 1st birthday instead of exactly on their birthday ? and then the second shot before school?

: It would be up to the pediatrician giving the vaccine but getting a vaccine 1 week early should not be a problem. The pediatrician can then let you know when the next dose would be due. Good luck to you!

Yes and no: The 2 vaccines are fine to give on the same day, but MMR is generally not given until 12 mo unless there are local cases and or expected travel into areas where there are active cases.If given at 9 mo a repeat dose at 12 mo would be expected to assure immunity.

baby just turned 1 (9/8)&at her doc appt today, the doc gave her 2 vaccines (mmr & varicella).he gave the injections in the upper buttocks, one on the left side one on the right side. i've never seen a baby/ toddler get a shot there. is this normal?

Probably: Remember, MMR can not be given until at least one year. If your infant develops a fever (over 101 degrees) after any vaccine, and you are concerned, contact your doctor for advice. For the MMR vaccine, some children will get a mild fever and/or rash, but generally not until 10 days after receiving the vaccine.
