Yes: More than 75% of cases of ibsen are attributable to underlying g identifiable anxiety d/o. Zoloft (sertraline) is one of the effective anxiety modulators. To o's certainly effective in ibs. However , like in treatment of any anxiety disorder, the starting g dosage has to be small..I.E 12.5mg daily with gradual titration . Generally anxiety requires eventually higher dosages than depression. Good luck.

Trazodone: for sleep: Trazodone is an ssri that is used for its reliable sedation and is hugely helpful to restore normal sleep patterns.  But if the dose is too high it usually  leads to the hangover effects you're  describing. Discus with your doctor/Psychiatrist on adjustments. Take  care.

ADHD or Meds: I think you are wondering if his irritability may be fueled by his condition or his medications.  It is not likely that his medication would have that as a sudden side effect.  If he has ADHD, then Zoloft (sertraline) is not an effective treatment, and severe ADHD can involve irritability. But I assume you have considered the important possibilities of your relationship or other matters affecting him.

Using Sertraline with Effexor (venlafaxine) can increase the risk of a rare but serious Serotonin Syndrome- confusion, excessive sweating, shivering or shaking, increased heart rate, extreme changes in blood pressure or other symptoms.

Other avenues: Stay on a routine, consider removing inflammatory food from your diet , sugar dairy, grains, exercise regularly 30min or more /d, Work on regular down time , meditation, or mindfulness . Get into a counseing relationship, PCP may be good referral source
. wellbutrin/buproprion works differently that the prozac, /zoloft may be a good choice

More info needed: you seem that you are taking over the maximum zoloft (sertraline) dose which ca contribute to your irritability , you need to decease the zoloft (sertraline) dose to rule out serotonin syndrome and/or over dose effect

Typically, the optimal combination of things to treat emotional issues such as anxiety or depression is medication (which, on your best day, is supposed to take the edge off symptoms) but the real gruntwork takes place in psychotherapist's consulting room.
