Candidiasis-thrush: A doctor or dentist (and sometimes pharmacist) can tell you if you have the yeast infection candidiasis, which can cause halitosis.  The mouth usually has red spots or a white area that when wiped off leaves a red spot.  It is usually treated with nystatin.  It is important to find out the cause of thrush as it can sometimes be a symptom of another disease.

YES...,: It hurts, gives an uneasy sensation in the mouth. Treatment is simple. There are many other causes of bad breath, e.g. Poor oral hygiene, less fluid intake, sinusitis, strep/viral pharyngitis, tonsillitis, unhealthy gums, gingivitis, dental caries/cavities, crowded teeth, stomach infection (h. Pylori), etc.  Talk to your doctor.

Cetylpyridinium: As a general answer, cetylpyridium is not safe for pregnant women.  It can severely damage the liver of the fetus. For oral thrush, gargle with salt water, avoid sweets, eat some plain yogurt every day. If it is really severe, then topical Nystatin (swish and spit).

Tell Your Prescriber: Tell the prescriber who wrote for the medications. The symptoms can be a side effect to
the broad spectrum antibiotic. Don't stop it. Call the Doctors office and ask them what to do and if you need to continue giving the entire course of medication. They may want you to continue it or perhaps they can treat with another less potent medication.

got ketoconazole 2% cream for what doc thinks is a fungal rash around my mouth & partly my chin it flares up only  before my period. is this common?

Rash before period: The sudden drop in estrogen and progesterone prior to a period will cause some acne like rashes, but before taking anti-fungal medications, check with a dermatologist to be certain you are treating appropriately.  Oral bcp's have lower amounts of both hormones, so if no contraindications exist, you might try low dose oral bcps, which should reduce the rash or eliminate it.

Maybe: Use inside the mouth is not recommended.  If you are referring to the corners of your lips (oral commissure), then that may be a condition called perleche.  Antifungal creams such as lotrimin (clotrimazole) may help, but Lamisil (terbinafine) probably will not as it does not treat yeast very well.

Yes: Candida infection of the foreskin can be spread to the mouth. Other bacteria as well. However, the saliva of the mouth offers some protection. If you develop a sore throat or white patches on the tongue or throat see your dcotor.
