It depends...: The dr will ask you a lot of questions about the pain you ar having, (which helps to identify the causes), then he/she may do an exam- involving use of a device to look inside the vagina, then likely an exam placing 1 gloved index finger inside the vagina pushing up, and one hand on your lower abd. Pushing down to see if your ovaries or uterus are tender. They may not do exam, but sched ultrasound.

Normal: You shouldn't be soaking a pad, but reddish brown discharge may occur for 2-3 days.

when must these tests be taken?

my heamoglobin is normal at 11.4 but my ferritin and iron count are low at 8 and 5.4 respectively. my gp and gynecologist disagree on whether i should be admitted.

"Low iron" ?'s: Low iron values may require supplemental iron orally at this point in a 32w pregnancy, but admission is rarely indicated for your stated labs.  Ask your OB physician about additional oral iron supplements.

Can be normal: Spotting after a pelvic exam can be normal - any palpation or manipulation of cervix can possibly cause some spotting.
If there is a possibility of pregnancy, one should get check out regardless whether there was a recent exam or not.

Some risk: PCOS patients do have a slightly higher risk of miscarriage. This is something beyond your control. There is not something you or your doctor can do to change the risk of first trimester of pregnancy. Just follow your doctors instructions and keep your follow up appointments.

Depends: On age of patient and expectations. Sometimes with youngest patients or those very anxious we may try to reset expectations and ask patient to come back; otherwise, a Gyn exam comprises a regular physical exam, speculum exam, pelvic (bimanual palpation), and rectovaginal exam.

Genital warts: Hpv may lie dormant and you could go without symptoms (assuming the hpv is causative for your genital warts) for quite some time, then they may recur as well.  Hopefully, you will stay well and have no more outbreaks.  Best wishes.
