can silver sulfadiazine or fucidin be used for genital herpes? i presented with sores on labia majora to my gp & he gave me both. the sores are worse.

Wrong Treatments: Genital herpes is caused by a virus.  It causes very painful open sores on the genitals.  It makes little sense to have you apply a topical cream to areas tender to touch.  You need to get a second opinion where they should put you on one of many excellent anti-viral medications for this.  Silvadene (silver sulfadiazine) is used for burns and the Fucidin is an antibiotic.  Neither was a great idea.

i left a pad on too long and now ive got irritation on the insides of my labia majora would neosporin be safe to apply before bed?

NO, NO, NO: Neosporin [bacitracin, triple antibiotic] are useless. They are common sensitizers and the fastest way to become allergic is to use one of these on a wound. Neosporin was "honored" a few years ago as allergen of the year. They do not prevent or treat any infection. If you want to sooth this you can try vaseline or Aquaphor.

the surface of my labia majora is not smooth and it has tiny lumps on both side. what can i apply to cure my labia?

Physical exam: Lumps, bumps, blisters and other skin abnormalities on the genitals need to be evaluated. An examination will be needed to know the cause and treatment. It is not clear if what you are seeing is normal anatomy or something abnormal. Schedule a visit with an obgyn who can help make a diagnosis.

i use tretinoin to help lighten my underarms, but is it safe to use on my labia majora to help lighten that too?

I wouldn't: The drug information page on tretinoin recommends not using it on mucous membranes and the area right next to your labie is a mucous membrane- the side effects of the medicine might not be very comfortable in that area also
So my medical opinion would be to stay away from that area

can i apply fucicort cream to the itchy labia majora? is it has bad effect to the vagina?

Steroid cream: Corticosteroid cream used only occasionally will not harm the vaginal area but if you have a yeast or other vaginal infection it could aggravate it. An exam by your gynecologist would be best for diagnosis, treatment and advice.

what can i apply to make tiny bumps on labia majora goes away? sometimes itch. see dr., get miconazole and fluconazole. tiny bumps still there.

? Cysts: I do not know if you saw a gynecologist or not.If you did i would suggest you see a dermatologist.

accidentally scratched vagina to the point where skin broke. now the cuts itch. the cuts n are on the labia majora. is it safe to put alcohol on it or what can i put in the cuts to heal them and stop the itching?

: Just keep the area clean. Alcohol would do little other than trigger pain. The itching is part of self-healing. Find some antibiotic cream (not ointment) that you can use daily while it heals. If you just keep the area clean it should self-heal in a week or so.

Typical side effect: This is a common side effect of imiquimod (Aldara) when it contacts healthy skin, especially thin moist skin or mucous membranes, like the labia minor. That's probably what's going on. But be aware that herpes is also a common cause of genital ulceration. If any doubt, check with the doctor who prescribed your treatment.

is it abnormal for inner labia to be longer than outer labia?

It can be: Vaginas and labia come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. The labia minora are usually thinner and stretch more than the labia majora, so  they can look longer. Birth trauma can make the labia look even longer. For some women, this is not just cosmetic. Horse back riders can have a real problem with very long labia. Ask your doc for an exam!

i'm almost 24 and i have no inner or outer labia. is this normal?

Accepted Answer

No: Not sure if you are sure what the labia is, but as a 24yo female, having labia would be part of your normal genital anatomy.  Have a gyn dr. Give you an evaluation and discuss your examination with you to assure all your  questions are answered.  There are also anatomy books you could look at to view normal female genitalia, and compare that you have similar findings.  Best wishes.
