i have lower front tooth pain since the past 3 days. is this because of sinus or gum recession?

Accepted Answer

Unlikely: Sinus infections or inflammation do not generally cause pain on lower teeth.  Gum recession does not cause spontaneous pain, but instead may cause pain or sensitivity when eating, drinking or brushing.  You need to see a dentist as soon as possible to determine the cause of your pain and render appropriate treatment.

can sinus or tooth pain make your tongue kinda numb?

Maybe: A lower tooth infection that has damaged the lingual nerve can cause this but it is extremely rare.  So can a  tumor. Either case it is important to see an oral surgeon asap!

Yes: Sinus infections often cause pain in the teeth, especially the upper teeth on the side of the innfection.

my 4 yr old son was diagnosed with flu a a week ago and is now showing signs of what i believe to be a sinus infection. does he need to take any other trip to the doctor or can he be treated at home? hes having eye and tooth pain from time to time?

: That would be up to the doctor that treats him. Your assumption may be valid or not and the pain may be from retained fluid rather than a secondary infection. Flu A is well known to irritate the structures of the upper airway.

Sinusitis: All symptoms due to sinusitis. See MD. You'll likely need antibiotics.

Infection in tooth: An infection in this upper tooth can spread to the sinus.  The tooth either needs a root canal therapy or an extraction.  However you need to do it now since you currently have an active infection that needs attention now.

Sinusitis: The ear discomfort can definitely be related if there was  congestion in your posterior pharynx or the post nasal discharge caused ear infection. Lower, rather than upper dental pain, is a little unusual but not out of the question. Are you sure you do not have a gingival or dental problem?

2 separate problems: 1. A sinus infection or inflammation can cause a toothache, especially in the upper molars. These problems should be managed by your PCP or ENT. 2. Mouth sores (aphthous ulcers) are painful sores inside the mouth. The sore may be painful for three or four days, but complete healing usually takes ten to fifteen days. Canker sores may recur many times each year. No cure is available.

ENT exam: Sinuses must be checked for reinfection, relapse, nasal/sinus polyps, abscess and you will need formal examination, allergy testing and pulmonary function testing to rule out asthma.

Mouth sores (aphthous ulcers) are painful sores inside the mouth. The sore may be painful for three or four days, but complete healing usually takes ten to fifteen days.
