Many causes: Infection, pregnancy, lots of fluid intake, diabetes, irritable bladder, and causes of incomplete emptying like lazy bladder ( atonic bladder), urethral stricture, and neurogenic bladder in cases of stroke. Age and medical history make it easier to differentiate but bladder ultrasound pre and post voiding is very helpful.

If swelling yes: amlodipine causes some people to retain fluid as swelling in the legs and other tissues. sleeping supine elevates the legs and increases the return of leg swelling to the circulation and then to the kidneys. increased urine output occurs at that time (night for day time workers). however, other causes of swelling include the estrogen cycle and other medications or diseases that require evaluation

Soap/UTI/other: Many of these kids have simple reactions to soapy bathwater that forms an irritating film on their genitals. Kids dig at them in their sleep &amp; the pee hole becomes inflamed from trauma.Germs can be pushed in. If their urine is obtained as a usual squat/pee,it is often urine plus a vaginal wash out with various germs. Having these kids shower,not sit in soapy water can sometimes reduce this problem

Yes: Oxytrol patches are now over the counter and work well.  I suspect they are a little pricey ay this point.  Detrol (tolterodine) is generic and is once a day.  Ditropan is 3 times a day dosing and generic.

Yes: Yeast infection of the urinary bladder acts just like bacterial uti. Frequently, yeast causes both vaginitis with local irritation and itching along with bladder infection (UTI) with burning and frequency.

Further evaluation: Irritative voiding symptoms (frequency and urgency) result from spasms of the bladder muscle and can occur with infection but also bladder cancer and an overactive pelvic floor that can increase bladder “twitchiness”. A dropped bladder and pelvic organ prolapse may contribute to symptoms as well.

You should have a physical exam, urine cytology, cystoscopy and possibly bladder behavior testing.

What you are : describing may be "stress" incontinence...increases in the standing position (increased pressure on the "neck" of the bladder interfering with your bladder's sphincter. Just a thought....hope it's helpful!

Stone or UTI: Pain radiating from the groin to the back is common for both urinary tract infections or stones that are blocking a ureter.  Irritation causes the frequent feeling of needing to urinate.  You should stop by a clinic for a urinalysis to get a diagnosis.  It's quick and easy.  Hope this helps!
