If swelling yes: amlodipine causes some people to retain fluid as swelling in the legs and other tissues. sleeping supine elevates the legs and increases the return of leg swelling to the circulation and then to the kidneys. increased urine output occurs at that time (night for day time workers). however, other causes of swelling include the estrogen cycle and other medications or diseases that require evaluation
