Yes: Most of the time frequent urination means uti.  However there might be a possibility that elevated prostaglandin around time of menses could lead to more frequency. I haven't heard of a link between stress (cortisol) and increased frequency.

No, but...: Concerning abnormal menstruation, it is a good idea to be evaluated by a gyn-doc although one needs to consider the emerging menopause for a 53-t-o female. Clinically, some women may experience some urinary frequency around their period with specific reasons but elucidated as changing mucosal sensitivity of lower urinary tract secondary to hormonal fluctuation. Besides, UIT? Overdrinking of water?

Pregnancy is #1 reason.
