Vaginal flora: Odorous discharge after the menstrual flow has ceased is observed by many women. The menstrual flow throws off the balance of  "good" and "bad" bacteria in a woman's vagina towards the bad bacteria. It usually takes a woman's body a few days to restore the balance and odor and discharge disappear

Depends: There is a possibility that you still may have old blood in the vagina.  However if odor continues or associated with itching, burning, pain, then see a doctor.

hi. i've been on my period since the 9th of january 2018, having gone on the 26/12/2017. i have not stopped having my period. the blood smells terrible as well.

Irregular periods: Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat. If this is one time problem it usually resolves on its own. If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Infections ;  hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do  a home pregnancy test .  There are many options available to help regulate the menstrual cycle. Schedule a visit.

what is wrong?! i have a lot more discharge than normal and it doesn't smell very pleasant. also, i got my period about a week ago it only lasted about 4 days and was very light, which for me is unusual. it ended about 3 days ago and now i think its back.

Without : Without examining you and looking at your discharge under a microscope, i cannot tell you what is causing your symptoms.  It could be an infection from yeast, bacterial vaginosis, or a sexually transmitted disease such as trichonella, or chlamydia.  It could be a foreign object such as a forgotten tampon.  You could even be pregnant with your history of an unusually light period.  The best thing you to do is to call your doctor.  Since all of these possibilities require very different treatments, you need a correct diagnosis first.  Good luck!

Infection: Menses and tampon use can associate with infection in the vagina. Voided urine can then become unusually odorous.  Odor in the urine can be caused by yeast, bacteria, or old blood and associated ammonia.  Certain foods can make urine odorous, also. Asparagus is well known to do this.  Force fluids to see if this problem abates. You may require urine testing and urine culture and pelvic exam

Old blood/tissue: During your period, the lining of your uterus is shed and expelled through your vagina as red blood and tissue.  At times, some blood is retained in the vagina and turns brown, before leaking out.  It is nothing to worry about.

Forgotten tampon?: If you have forgotten to remove a tampon, then that can cause one of the worst smells there is after a few days.  Check and see. If you have, when you remove it have a sturdy plastic bag that can be closed and sealed and disposed of, or the horrible smell will spread far and wide. If that is the problem, removal is all that is necessary. If that is not the problem, get checked for infection. today

Could be BV: Bacterial vaginosis (bv) is the most common vaginal infection. It is an overgrowth of normal vaginal bacteria, not a sexually transmit disease. The vaginal pH gets elevated releasing the fishy odor. It is easily fixed with antibiotics. Ask to be tested for bv. Other infections are possible so get tested. Make sure you did not leave a tampon in too.

Bacterial infection: See your MD to have the area checked for a possible vaginal bacterial infection which does produce an odor.
