Whole milk: There is no reason why he can't be fed whole milk and table food at age 1.   Just switch from formula to milk if you want.  As for weaning off the bottle, this will depend on the child.  Be sure not to let him suck on the bottle while lying on his back- this is one way to cause ear infections.

Many choices: Formulas are good nutritional choices when breastfeeding isn't possible. There are many different brands, but I would stay with Enfamil, Similac or the Nestles Carnation brand as these companies have tried to make their formulas as nutritionally complete as possible

Either is fine: When transitioning from formula to cow's milk, there is no reason to "slowly transition, " assuming the infant has no history of food allergy or intolerance. Most babies transition to whole milk at around the age of 12 months.

Best formula: The best "formula" for babies is nothing than your own breast milk. I hope you breastfed your baby. Breast milk or formula is recommended for babies until a year old. Since your baby is now 14 months old, you can switch him to regular whole milk or evaporated milk.

Some thoughts: The AAP  recommends BM or formula until 1 year. That evolved over decades from 6 mo. The basic caution I have with cow milk is it is designed for calves, not humans &amp; excess can cause microscopic bleeding in the infant gut (causes anemia). If limited to 24 oz/day and the kid takes a broad range of solid foods I don't see a need to wait.

All good!: To pass FDA most milks have minor variations from each other. Check out the label as some additives that promote healthy retinal development. Some infants tolerate some formulas better than others. It is an individual preference.

Formula choices: The best formula for one baby may not be the best for another.  Four levels of standard formula : milk based, lactose free, soy, hypoallergenic.  It is generally recommended to start with a milk based product (Similac, Enfamil and Goodstart are reputable brands) provided there is no strong concern for lactose deficiency or milk protein allergy.

Not the formula: Constipation can be a temporary finding in babies. Since they eat formula, the natural assumption is that formula causes constipation. However, it's best to have the doc look at the baby and determine if the baby needs testing for other medical conditions or try ways to soften the stools without changing the formula unnecessarily.

Pre-digested formula: There are 2 hypoallergenic formulas, nutramigen and alimentum.  They are predigested to avoid food allergies.  They are also much more expensive.  You can probably try regular priced formulas that are either milk-free or with partially digested milk proteins.  By far, most babies do well without needing a hypoallergenic formula.

Depends: The popularity of late stage formulas is more an effort to broaden the sales base than a nutritional need in kids. Breast milk or formula is important for the first year but becomes less so as growth slows &amp; the kid has accepted a broad nutritious diet. In a kid with chronic illness, poor growth, or odd dietary habits I may stay with a toddler formula. Most kids will not need one.
