Missed pills: Likely missed pills and now with withdrawal bleed. Couple options: Stop pill for 4 days, allow for bleeding, then restart new pack. Next is get rid of sugar pills, take 3 pills x 2 days, 2 pills x 3 days, then take one pill daily. When you take birth control pills you do not have 'periods', you can completely control when you choose to bleed.

It can happen: If you miss a pill, if u are taking antibiotics at the same time and not using backup if u do not absorb the pill or vomit up a pill, if u think u are please do a home test, if - then see your gyn for a blood test.

BCP's: One 2009 study suggested an increased risk for early delivery or low birth weight but according to roger harms md of mayo clinic– this generally has not born out clinically. It is recommended to stop taking oral contraceptives if you find you are pregnant.

NO: You should not take birth control pills when you are pregnant.  If you are pregnant, stop them immediately and get in to see an ob/gynecologist for an examination.  Best wishes.

NO: As long as you take it daily but  it is better after a heavy meal to avoid stomach irritation and not after breakfast , the bcp might make you fat.

Paranoia: Yes. You should. The reason one goes onto birth control is so that they can relax about worrying over the risk of an unwanted pregnancy.  You did not mention what type of birth control you are using. But, most are very effective at preventing pregnancy if used correctly.

Very unlikely: Any BC practice has a failure risk but your combination drops your combined risk to about 1%/yr or less.  If you forget the pill for several days you increase your risk some.

No: If you have taken Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) in the last 3 months then you shouldn't take an other hormonal birth control. Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) is very effective for birth control.
