Can u get pregnant if u take birth control pills at different times ?

Depends: The failure rate for the "pill"is often cited as 5%/yr & many variables are included in that number. It works by placing a steady amount of hormone in your body that tricks it into thinking you are pregnant, so eggs are saved rather than released. If there is delay or you skip, your circulating level may fall enough to allow release.A few hours either way is unlikely to matter, consistency works best

A 25-year-old female asked:

Can u get pregnant on birth control pills if u take them different times ?

1 doctor answer1 doctor weighed in
Dr. James Ferguson
Pediatrics 46 years experience
Depends: The pill works by providing your body with a relatively constant level of hormone that tricks it into thinking you are already pregnant, so you do not release eggs.If the level falls far enough, egg release may be triggered. If you take the pill within several hours of a set time it will probably work fine.If you forget/skip or otherwise delay too much, it may happen.
