hi, i got a scar on the side of penis just below the head. it happened with partner when she was a little aggressive and i was dry. problem is now that it has reopened twice, 1/2 months after healing well. how can i stop it reopening?

: You will have to give the area a rest for at least a couple of weeks to heal. Once it has completely healed make sure you use plenty of lubrication and a condom to avoid local abrasion. Hope you heal well and soon

Hard : Hard to tell without a clinical examination, but scars are not at "full strength" at four months so i would probably consider having this evaluated to make sure it is healing properly.  I hope this helps.

: You don't mention how old the scar is. It may be a keloid although these are uncommon in the scalp. Some have been able to shrink thick scar tissue by applying silicone based cream over a prolonged period. You could have a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon examine the scar and advise you.

They will improve: Scars are permanent but almost all fade with time. This process takes longer in babies than in adults because their healing processes are more robust. Protect the scars from sunlight while there is any pink left in them; they will burn easily and, if tanned, may be tanned permanently. I would not expect the scar to assume its final form until the age of 4-5. Do not rush into scar revision.

Give it 2 years: Wounds increase in collagen for 6 weeks following injury and thereafter enter into into the maturation phase when wounds subside and generally decrease in appearance. Topical silicone sheeting and avoidance of sun exposure may help to expedite the phase and improve scar appearance. While 90% of this process is completed by 3 months, with a good estimate of the final appearance, it may take 2 years.

Laser treatments: Depending upon exactly what your "spots and scars" look like, there are a variety of lasers that can be helpful. I would see a plastic surgeon or dermatologist that cares for these problems and has access to the proper equipment.

Scars &amp; VitaminE: Life holds no guarantees as we know, but vitamin e oil placed directly on the scar regularly can help to fade or remove the scar.  You can get a bottle of it in the drug store.  It's inexpensive and worth a try; just be patient.

Usually no problem: It can take 2-3 wks for any inflammation to resolve after trauma.  If there is no laceration,, there probably won't be a scar.  Rarely is the swelling permanent.
