Folliculitis : The best article I have seen is http://www.Medicinenet.Com/folliculitis/article.Htm. As you see.  There are many causes and you might be able to identify your source and limit your exposure. Anecdotally, there are many reports of the positive effects of white vinegar, which you might try, but it would be better to identify the cause; e.g., "razor burn, " and take steps to cure the problem source.

Postinflammatory: I haven't seen it, obviously, but that is usually not scarring, per se - it's called postinflammatory change, and it will usually resolve on its own, although it will take its sweet time.

i have folliculitis on both legs an in growing area been taking meds for about 5 days it looks a lil better but not gone an when will the itching stop?

When it heals: Itching is a sign of healing.  While it is annoying, it can be comforting, for it shows that healing is occurring.  If your rash does not resolve, it could be a sign that something else is going on.  I'd give it one week to go away before I became concerned.

: not really. You should be evaluated with a culture from the lesions and possibly might need a different medication. See a dermatologist for eval.

Not likely: Folliculits would not be contagious in the way you described. I trust that you are keeping the area clean and using a topic antibiotic ointment, like neosporin. If it spreads to other hair follicles, it would be prudent to see your doctor for an evaluation.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex. 
Get HPV vaccine.

Skin ulcer: If the ulcer is not draining, and you are taking antibiotics or other prescribed treatment, i would recommend that you keep it closed for extra protection with a gauze dressing or bandade depending on how big it is. Otherwise, keep up with normal daily routine.

Soap and water: Even if your son is in direct contact, it is unlikely he will develop a skin infection.  A layer of clothing should be fine.  Keep the area washed clean daily  and if not getting better, see your doctor for help.

Folliculitis: Moderate cases of bacterial folliculitis may be treated by a routine of twice-daily application of a topical antibiotic, such as Clindamycin lotion or Metronidazole lotion. A five- to 30-day course of an oral antibiotic like Cephalexin (keflex), Dicloxacillin (dynapen), doxycycline, Minocycline (dynacin, minocin), tetracycline (sumycin), Ciprofloxacin (cipro), or Levofloxacin (levaquin).
