i was around someone with influenza now i have all symptoms except fever and nausea/vomiting. can this be flu or more likely cold?

Influenza: without a fever you don't have influenza. You probably have a cold.  If you haven't had a flu shot get one.  Even though the antigens in the shot don't exactly match the flu strain this year, it should offer some protection and make the flu less severe if you get it. Influenza is sudden (like you were hit by a truck), fevers,chills, runny nose, cough, diffuse aches and rarely GI symptoms.

can miralax (polyethylene glycol) cause nausea & vomiting if no food/water in system? she had an enema & throws up any food b/c of flu she got a few days later. 2wks now.

Not common: Vomiting and diarrhea is not a regular side effect of Miralax, (polyethylene glycol) an alternate cause should be considered.

Gastroenteritis: There are no effective antiviral medications for viral gastroenteritis and it usually resolves on its own after several days. Treatment consists of resting, taking in adequate fluids, eating soft,bland foods, drinking flat ginger ale, taking Tylenol and kaopectate as needed for headache and diarrhea control.

Test confirms either: Symptoms of body issues often overlap & over time may become more specific. Office flu tests are often accurate from the start of symptoms, pregnancy tests are usually accurate after ~ two wks  or when your body starts to notice.U can either test for either or wait it out.

every 2 months i get severe nausea & vomiting. all tests are 'normal'. doc says its just bad luck w/ stomach flu. could there be another cause?

Sure: Guy or gal?  If gal, could be related to hormones, menses, ovulation (perhaps just from one of the ovaries, thus every other month).  Check timing of symptoms with menstrual cycle.
Could be cyclic vomiting syndrome; could be other triggers for the symptoms, could even be migraine related.  Could be other stuff too.

nausea & vomiting every morning not pregnant. 4 months pp.been twice to the er in the last 3 months and the keep saying stomach flu. what is cause?

ER: This is not the place in which to undergo evaluation for a chronic process. This needs careful assessment with history, physical exam and labs and possibly endoscopy or other procedures and should be done by a doctor with the time and training to do this. An ER, although staffed by wonderful concerned doctors, in not equipped for this. Go see a GI doctor. Good luck and hope this clears up soon.

Could be.: Sounds more like pregnancy than flu although could be neither.  Check home pregnancy test kit.
