A person may see a doctor if throat symptoms are bothersome, recurrent, or don't go away quickly. One's doctor can examine. Of course, having the flu does not mean a person cannot catch something else.

With an intact: Immune system thrush is usually only caused by oral inhaled steroid use of antibiotics.  Not normally a spontaneous illness.  If your "flu" was treated with antibiotics then that is the culprit.  Should be treated with oral antifungals.
