Depends: How big an overdose?  If its just a few extra sprays a few times, likely nothing will happen.  If it is many sprays a day over months or years, you run the low risk of systemic absorption and typical steroid side effects.  This can include secondary infection, weight gain, cataracts, liver changes, osteoporosis etc.  This would be rare and require a massive overdose.

Nearly impossible: Since Flonase delivers only micrograms of steroid with only a small part of which being absorbed and much of it draining out, you will need to use more than 20 sprays to get any noticeable systemic effect. However nosebleed will be the most likely side effect and using a dose more than twice recommended will not likely provided any added benefit for symptom control.

None: For all intents and purposes, there is no such thing as Flonase overdosage. Taking too much over a long period of time could produce some steroid side effects, but that would require swallowing an entire bottle of Flonase daily for a few weeks. There is no way any insurance company would allow for a refill per day, and no one could afford that on an out-of-pocket basis.

: I would expect some benefit remains. The use by date is the last point where full potency remains.

: Patience may be what you need because given time and controlling what is stimulating the allergic rhinnitis; and the steroid the inflammation should subside. There is no quick medication use that could reduce hypertrophy of the turbinates but decongestant may help reduce congestion of nasal mucosa; but limited use, and caution if there hypertension or vascular disease.

for couple weeks now my urine has a chips like smell.i did eat chips but not everyday and the smell is still there.with my normal medication the only other meds i'm using is flonase for my sinus.using it for over a month.would like advice please?

More water: Drink enough water every day so that your urine is mostly colorless.

Re-evaluation: if you are on all those medicines, regular and not benefiting, so you need to be reevaluated, medicines don't work equally for all patients, doses might need to be modified or prescribed different meds, most important is adherence to treatment plan, good luck

Flonase: If you take a nasal spray once a day you should be OK! You might be able to get a Flonase spray at the Pharmacy and not need a prescription.

what kind of otc medication can i use to treat eustachian tube dysfunction? (already using flonase)

Accepted Answer

Keep using it: In the right way, directed backwards and outwards towards your ear away from the midline to avoid the nasal septum and to spray the nasal cavity well back to the where the Eustachian tubes openings are. It also helps if you irrigate your nose regularly with saline before using the flonase, if no improvement see your doctor/ENT, good luck
