ive begun using omeprazole and went into af. i took flecainide/bisopresol. ive suddenly gained 5lbs in 3 days. i was dieting and lost 1.5 stone - on exact same diet gained 5lbs. no swollen ankles. one drugs must be the cause. which one more likely?

NO: Flecainide has been shown to be dangerous in the early period following a myocardial infarction (CAST study). That concern is extrapolated to avoid use in anyone with previous MI. The mechanism is related to scarred ventricular myocardium. PFO closure doesn't involve the ventricles and shouldn't be a problem. Flec is great for AF which is an atrial problem, like PFO closure.

is  a resting heart on flecainide of 58 ok as it does up when i move about or exercise?

Yes: Flecainide does tend to lower heart rate. Unless you are having chest pain, trouble breathing, lightheadedness, or passing out, 58 is totally ok. Hope this helps!

AF/flecainide: What you describe is probably fine if you have no symptoms with it. On the other hand without knowing more specifics including what the rhythm(s) are associated with what you describe; can't be certain there isn't a problem.
